Frankly when I started to write this blog I thought of my dog. Of course I do know that with a person it encompasses much more than with Vivian, my almost year-old German Shepard mix. So I went deeper into the subject into the meaning with humans.
What; I found is that companionship is far more intimate than I ever imagined because it does not have the limitations that romance or friendship have. It is all about what you think and feel and what you find interesting. It is important for our mental and physical wellbeing. In a good companionship you feel relaxed in another’s company. It is the base of a good solid relationship between two people. It carries in it alot of trust between two people because of what is shared and how this information is received by the other person. This should be step one in an intimate sexual relationship but is blindsighted in most cases. The companionship development between two people holds the relationship in higher standards when other elements fail.
The five levels of emotional intimacy are;
Safe communication
Respect of other opinions and beliefs
Your personal opinions and beliefs
My feelings and experiences and his feelings and experiences
My needs, emotions and wants and his needs, emotions and wants.
Levels of Intimacy are;
Physical; Is what we see, the way a person talks, considers others, gestures, mannerisms
Aesthetic; Recreational intimacy is to sufficiently discover commonality that you appreciate time together.
Intellectual; Trading thoughts and things you care about
Spirtual; The relationship is now a huge thing “together”. You are now spiritually connected.
Emotional; You acknowledge the individual for who he or she is. No judging.
Sexual; Finding comfort in knowing what the other likes. Acceptance of your own body with your partner. Not being afraid of your partner in any way.
